Welcome to the Pain Clinic at the Chiltern, the Paddocks and the Shelburne Hospitals.

The Pain Clinic is a new service providing a team approach to the evaluation, management and treatment of chronic pain. Typically our patients have conditions such as back pain, neck pain, muscle and joint problems (e.g.arthritis), sciatica and other spinal nerve problems. They may also suffer with pain from nerve injury or dysfunction (neuralgia).

We believe that early education on how to manage pain, combined with minimally invasive interventional therapy, substantially reduces the number of patients requiring surgery or proceeding to disability. In doing so, we hope to enable them to resume more normal, productive lives.

Our Clinic is directed by pain management physicians who work in collaboration with specially trained nursing staff, psychologists, psychiatrists, occupational and physiotherapists. We provide a multidisciplinary approach to pain management here, providing specialised care in a compassionate setting. This includes education and advice to patients and their carers, as well as evaluation and treatment of the problem.  Treatment includes the use of interventional and medical therapies, as well as physiotherapy and behavioural medicine.
